About Lab Grown Diamonds:
Lab Grown Diamonds (LGD) are made in highly controlled laboratories using advanced technology which duplicates the conditions under which diamonds naturally develop beneath the Earth’s crust. These lab diamonds consist of actual carbon atoms arranged in the characteristic diamond crystal structure. Since they are made of the same material as natural diamonds, they exhibit the same optical and chemical properties.
LGD are created from tiny carbon seeds of pre-existing diamonds. Scientists use advanced technology-either CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) or HPHT (High Pressure High Temperature) to mimic the conditions where natural diamonds are formed inside the earth. Within six to ten weeks a rough diamond is formed. Both methods use pressure and heat treatment in the process of making LGD.
LGD display the same physical, chemical, and optical characteristics as natural diamonds, and exhibit the same fire, scintillation, and sparkle. LGD can be distinguished from natural diamonds only by scientists with tests using specialized equipment.
